December… The time for pause and reflection on a year well spent (or not). No more shows to watch… Almost actually. Leverage is still on! Thank you TNT for this wonderful scheduling. Putting a new show up against Christmas and family. Wow.
Meanwhile the BBC has announced yesterday that Survivors will have a second season. The pilot was pretty great I though, and after that it became kinda average (although I love the opening credits). I still don’t understand why introduce all the creepy Fringe–like lab scenes if you’re not gonna resolve any of it. My guess is Patterson Joseph won’t return for season 2 as he’ll probably be the next Doctor Who.
Nielsen has declared that 6.8% of households are “completely unready for switchover” to DTV. I hope that’s not the case for you. Or your TV is going dark on Feb. 17.
I am going myself on a blog-post hiatus until next year (that means less than 2 weeks for those who don’t keep tabs). But don’t worry, I’ll post tomorrow Part Two of the Black List SOTW Edition.
I’m now off to party at my B-Day fiesta.
Happy holidays, happy new year, and happy Chrismukkah!
First, I’d like to welcome all my new readers, especially the ones that are from the far-away APA Blog. :) I hope you won’t get too lost in the crazy rants I sometime post.
Speaking of crazy rants (and crazy days for that matter)…
Wednesday is Obama Day. And by that I mean he’s tomorrow’s Daily Show guest. What? You thought I was gonna talk about another show he’ll be on tomorrow night simultaneously on NBC, CBS and FOX? Also, ABC is airing Pushing Daisies. Who will win the rating war: a pie-maker or a terrorist lover?
As for next Tuesday. Mmmm… What are you supposed to do on November 4th again? Right, buy French fries. Delish’.
Today, don’t forget that Strike.TV is officially launched. And, no, I am not producing anything over there, thanks for asking telepathically.
Also today, I successfully cooked “Sautéed aubergines and leeks with ginger”. Yay me.
In other worldwide TV news, France Television’s primetime will begin next year at around 8:35PM instead of 8:50/9PM (as ads will be suppressed after 8PM). To try to counter its rival network, M6 will also program its primetime at around 8:35PM. This is a huge change in the French TV landscape. That’s like having Mad Men on NBC right after the Super Bowl leading to record-shattering ratings of 10 people watching the show. Only, you know, at 8:35PM.
Forgive me but I couldn’t leave you with a smile on your face, so here goes: The Footloose remake has been fast-tracked by Paramount with… Zack Efron in the lead. Right after he signs that half-mil check.
After weeks of research, I finally got my hands on Flashpoint’s pilot script. Why you may ask. The answer is quite simple: I am going to try to spec Flashpoint (following a previous advice-post by Jill Golick). It is indeed a successful series, even on CBS, especially given its Canadian roots. And you can also be sure it’ll last at the very least a couple of years (spec-wise). That and it’s a fun show as Golick points out, and a procedural.
It probably won’t be an Emmy-winning script but it certainly will get me started on that action-procedural script I’ve wanted to write for a long time. Although knowing how procrastinatable I can be, it will probably be months before a first draft rears its ugly yet awesome head.
I saw the first 2 episodes of the show last night. I thought they were pretty good, lots of potential (character-wise and story-wise). All new characters (hence a thematic link rather than a character spin-off), including Denis Hooper’s who has a really cool storyline (Emmy anyone?). I love the cast. It is certainly not your average cop show, dealing more with characters rather than cases, all in a more blunt fashion. You really fell for them and get to witness their journey through life. And the end of Episode 2 is just awesome. A really interesting start for this brand new Starz show.
So is everyone getting on the “TV Show” wagon now?
