Where no post has gone before

Family Guy will have a Star Trek: TNG reunion next month (March 29).
The Next Generation crew, comprised of Patrick Stewart, Levar Burton, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Wil Wheaton, Denise Crosby, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes, will lend their voices to the FOX show.

This reminds me a lot of Futurama‘s Where No Fan Has Gone Before albeit with a newer crew.

Meanwhile, we continue on our pilot news with The CW greenlighting the Melrose Place pilot, penned by Smallville‘s Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer and directed by Davis Guggenheim, who has previously directed episodes for, wait for it, 24, The Unit and Deadwood.
The first actor cast is Greek‘s Michael Rady.

Speaking of, no surprises there, but The CW renewed six of its shows, including 90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Supernatural and Smallville.

ABC’s Ab Fab pilot also has some news, with Back To You‘s James Burrows set to direct the premiere episode (as well as NBC’s 100 Questions for Charlotte Payne‘s pilot), and The Unit‘s Zosia Mamet set to play Eddie’s teen daughter. Barbershop‘s Toni Trucks will also join the cast as Eddie’s assistant.

Lipstick Jungle‘s Lindsay Price joins Jaime Ray Newman on The Witches of Eastwick to play one of the three lead witches.

Numb3rs‘ Lou Diamond Phillips, Push‘s Ming-Na, Smallville‘s Elyse Levesque and Alaina Huffman will in the meantime star in Sci Fi’s Stargate Universe, slated to premiere in October.

Can you feel the rush?

UPDATE: I just learned that Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Gore Berbinski is set to direct a Universal live-action movie based on Hasbro’s Clue board game.
Oh please God, not again.

Hola, adios

Looks like the Hulu/CBS peace treaty is not lasting very long.
Hulu pulled all of its videos from CBS’ TV.com last Tuesday after CBS failed to distribute on Hulu its shows and content from CBS, The CW or Showtime.
CBS is bitching about it saying that its in their right to stream Hulu vids on TV.com.
Fight! Fight! Fight!

Showtime’s half-hour Nurse Jackie by Liz Brixius, C.S.I.‘s Evan Dunsky & That ’70s Show‘s Linda Wallem, starring The Sopranos‘ Eddie Falco as a NYC E.R. Catholic nurse with a weakness for Adderall and Vicodin, has now a premiere date: June 8th.

The Butterfly Effect‘s Amy Smart is set to play Claudia McIntire from the ABC show I, Claudia, now renamed See Cate Run, revolving around a young prosecuting attorney that could one day become the president of the United States.

CBS’ Accidentally on Purpose will meanwhile star Dharma & Greg‘s Jenna Elfman as the San Fran movie critic getting pregnant after a fling with a younger man.

Sounds wonderful.

What is not wonderful however is that The Middleman has now been (at last) officially canceled.

Farewell. :(

You’ll be able to see the un-filmed (real) season finale on comic-book form though.

Reconversion

Back to our regular programming (notice how I squeezed in that nice pun there?) with more pilot news.

Mercy‘s Dr. Chris Sands (look to your right) will be played by Men in Trees/Samantha Who‘s James Tupper.

Also, Pushing Daisies‘ Anna Friel is one of the most sought-out after actresses for this pilot season, and Claire Danes might return to TV after her start on ABC’s My So-Called Life.

Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter are back together, and on Comedy Central for that matter, for a show called Michael and Michael Have Issues (premiering around July). Michael Ian Black guested last year on The CW’s Reaper and hosted Comedy Central’s own Reality Bites Back, while Michael Showalter starred in Reno 911!: Miami. The two have been BFFs for over 20 years, joining ranks for Stella.

Lots of stuff to look forward to this year.
