Script of the Week Launch

Almost 4 months ago now I launched a “Pilot Script Week“, sharing with you for a week the pilots of some of the most anticipated shows of this year’s and next year’s season.

As you know, finding current TV (and for that matter upcoming Movie) scripts is quite hard, but I was fortunate enough to get my hands on several scripts that I deemed interesting (and wanted) enough to share them.

That is why I am launching a new section on the right called “Script of the Week” which will offer each week (hopefully) a new TV/Movie script.

The first step to good screenwriting is a good scriptreading.

Tune in tomorrow for the beginning of Script of the Week!

I’ve been flashed

After weeks of research, I finally got my hands on Flashpoint’s pilot script.
Why you may ask.
The answer is quite simple: I am going to try to spec Flashpoint (following a previous advice-post by Jill Golick).
It is indeed a successful series, even on CBS, especially given its Canadian roots.
And you can also be sure it’ll last at the very least a couple of years (spec-wise).
That and it’s a fun show as Golick points out, and a procedural.

It probably won’t be an Emmy-winning script but it certainly will get me started on that action-procedural script I’ve wanted to write for a long time.
Although knowing how procrastinatable I can be, it will probably be months before a first draft rears its ugly yet awesome head.

Soon to come: a Flashpoint breakdown.

Meanwhile, I’m off to re-reading my TV books
Well… After I’m finished reading that great Campbell hero-one.

Oh, I almost forgot.
Since you’ve been a good boy/girl…
Here’s your treat (quick!).

Which one is Piggy?

Folks, I’m sorry to tell you (but not really to do) that Monday I’ll be leaving you for the Big Apple (and for 2 weeks).
How sad (or awesome for me) is that?

So much to do and so little time!

I need to print out my short scripts because I have a little meeting with Tisch next Friday.
And I haven’t bought yet my suitcase.
Dammit.

Anyway, beyond my awesomely not particularly interesting life I was fortunately able to watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report because me love me some Comedy Central late-night show.
I especially loved this little segment that was on last night:

The mixture of an MSNBC implosion coupled with not-so-subtle innuendoes in a Cenac/Bee/Stewart sketch is just…priceless?
