Marvel Madness

Well, there was a few important Marvel movies delays announced today as well as a set date for Spider-Man 4.

Spidey will go out on May 6, 2011.

Captain America was initially slated for a May 6 release as well, but most likely because the Marvel peeps are afraid it’ll flop against Spidey 4, they pushed back the release to July 22.

Spider-Man has now become more of a Sony property, but nonetheless, it’s funny to see the other Marvel properties afraid to compete against another Marvel super-hero.

Thor has also been pushed back, but this time by a full year for a 2011 release (June 17).

This move is most likely to give some breathing room for Iron Man 2 and to pack Thor with Captain America as it is an almost-unknown entity in itself.
The script I read last year also seemed to indicate a completely different tone from the other Avengers movie, going more Viking-style which further suggests they want to associate the name to the Marvel and the Avengers brand.

Speaking of Avengers, the eponymous movie is as well pushed back another year and will therefore be released in 2012 (May 4th).

Looks like the actor that will play Captain America won’t have to shoot two movies at the same time.

Meanwhile, Iron Man 2 stays on track with Rourke and now Scarlett Johannson joining the cast as Black Widow. Johannson should also guest in Avengers.

Epicness

Bad news in my life today but let’s not dwell on that an speak about the good news regarding the TV world.

First, Firefly‘s Morena Baccarin is going to play the leader of the Visitors in ABC’s re-imagining of V, and X-Men/Ugly Betty‘s Rebecca Romijn is going to lead the Witches of Eastwick.

Breaking Bad‘s season 2 premiere had an astounding 1.7 million peeps watching, that is a 42% augmentation from last year’s average ratings.
Continue to watch this great show people!

Speaking of epicness, DirectTV/NBC’s Friday Night Light might not be renewed for another season… But two seasons!
That’s what Ausiello is saying anyways.
We’ll have to Wait & See as usual to believe it, but ods are looking good for the awesome football show.

And since it’s supposed to be Watchmen week over here or whatever, here is an amusing link that ponders on the idea of “what if X had directed Watchmen?”

I also forgot to post that news about Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach in the movie) co-starring on FOX’s Human Target. Also starring in the DC Comics-based show is non other than Pushing Daisies‘ Chi McBride.

Count me in.

Supplement

Looks like DVR numbers are pushing up FOX’s Friday slot with both Dollhouse and The Sarah Connor Chronicles showing strong boosts via the “Live+7” data.
Let’s see if FOX takes into account this (soon to be) major factor for the renewal process.

Not much of a surprise over at ABC with the cancellation of the U.S Life On Mars.

Also at ABC, the V remake has cast Party of Five‘s Scott Wolf as the show’s co-star.

CBS’ Washington Field pilot has in the meantime got itself a couple of actors with both Meet the Parents‘ Teri Polo and Third Watch‘s Eddie Cibrian on the show.

And last but not least we have HBO’s Entourage also bringing in fresh blood with The O.C.‘s Autumn Reeser and Still Standing‘s Jami Gertz joining the cast next season.
