Dammit

First, two unfortunate deaths today:
Patrick McGoohan from The Prisoner and Ricardo Montalban from Fantasy Island.
R.I.P.

Then:
Emily Blunt is rumored to play Black Widow in the next Iron Man.
But Samuel L. Jackson is supposedly out of the Nick Fury role for The Avengers movie.
After Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard, this is really some crappy news again. I don’t really care whose finances are too low to not pay a raise or ask for one, but just get Jackson on board and let’s do this.

Meanwhile Jason Bateman is going to try to talk some sense into his on-screen boy, Michael Cera, who doesn’t want to do the Arrested Development movie.
Come on.
Dude, if all the crew wants in, including Ron Howard, and every fans wants it, just do it.
I’m also happy with another possibility: the actual George Michael playing George Michael with no one mentioning that he is now a middle-aged gay man.

Steve Carell on the other hand has launched his own television division named Carousel Prods. Literally one second after its creation, Universal Media Studios inked a 3-year overall deal with the company.
Way to go.

In and Out

TV Guide has dropped off of its sked grid The CW and MTV among others.
Ouch.
How the hell will I know now when Smallville premieres?

This morning FOX confirmed that Prison Break is canceled with the last epis being shown on Fridays (with Terminator and Dollhouse).
Virtuality was described as too “dense” by Kevin Reilly and the pilot is being recut to one hour instead of the two it should have been.

Meanwhile, NBC announced that 90% of the Super Bowl ads had already been sold.
Some of the movie trailers shown will be for Transformers 2, Up, Wolverine, G.I. Joe, Angels & Demons, Land of the Lost, The Fast and The Furious, Star Trek, and Monsters v. Aliens (with disappointing Red & Blue glasses).
As for the TV side of things, Heroes will have a special trailer made for the Super Bowl and Chuck will promote its 3-D episode.

Also, Bush wants his own 15 minutes of fame by asking fifteen minutes of airtime on each of the major nets next Thursday, to say goodbye.

The Golden Balls

Viewers (and others) of Flight of the Conchords will be able to purchase the show’s songs the day after the episode airs on iTunes and SubPop.com.
An album of 15 tracks should be available April 14, following the conclusion of Conchords‘ second season on HBO.

The Golden Globes.

Let’s see…

30 Rock and John Adams continued to prove last night that they are awesome by winning all their Globes.

Cue in the big “Duh” for WALL-E‘s win as best animated feature and Mad Men as best drama.

Even though his performance in The Dark Knight was epic, Heath Ledger winning seemed more of a tribute to me.
How else do you explain the fact that The Dark Knight wasn’t even nominated in the other categories?
But they nominated Mama Mia.

Haven’t seen Slumdog Millionnaire yet but I love Boyle’s work so I say good for him.
Congrats as well obviously to Simon Beaufoy for best script.
Funny how there isn’t any distinction between drama and comedy in the script category.

Shocked at Paquin’s win but I was more shocked to discover the other day that she already has an Oscar that she won at the age of…eleven (for The Piano).

Gabriel Byrne finally got some recognition.

Speaking of In Treatment, have you guys seen the format-change for the show?
Two epis on Sunday and three on Monday.
Doesn’t that defeat the whole purpose of the show?
Live with Paul one day at a time with one of his patient?

We’ll see how this turns out but I’m kind of scared now.
Seems like way too much information per night.

Anyway, guess we’ll have to wait for the big O now to see how many standing ovations there are.
