Oops?

I almost forgot to talk about the other Flash Forward casting announcements.
Sonya Walger (Pennneeeehhhh!) has been cast as Olivia (the female lead), whilst Christine Woods is joining the show as FBI’s Janis.

In case you haven’t heard already, Hugh Jackman is going to host the Oscars.
Could be an interesting night.
It will surely be more entertaining than the Emmys though.

And what’s up with THR mistaking Kristen Stewart’s name for Kristen Bell’s?
I was afraid the latter starred in Twilight 2!

Meanwhile, as many of you know, the ’08 Black List came out Wednesday.
I’m glad to see that a couple of my choices as SOTW came out in the list.
Brian K. Vaughan’s Roundtable (SOTW1) is in there and Kyle Killen’s The Beaver (SOTW5) is even Number One!
Disapointed though that there weren’t any more of those scripts up there.
Next time voters, I hope you’ll go read the awesomest blog of all and select all the SOTW!

Oh, and what about a TV spec-pilot Black List?
We should definitely make that happen.
Who’s with me?

Tune in tomorrow for a special SOTW Black List Edition.

Combo breaker

Some more Flash Forward casting.
Joseph Fiennes may play the lead role of the show (Mark).
Meanwhile, John Cho might play his partner.
To that I say: Whaaaat?
This is so not the actor I had in mind for Dominic.
I have yet to see Cho in as dark a role as Dominic promises to be!
And playing Sulu doesn’t count.

ABC’s Private Practice was beat the other night by FOX’s Secret Millionaire.
I thoroughly regret wasting 40+ minutes of my life on such a crappy show.
It almost seemed fake at times.
Sad.

The FailW is eyeing a freakin’ spin-off of Gossip Girl.
Wow.
I’m hoping that it will be a crossover between 90210 and Smallville.
A show around a super-bitchy rich girl that can poop gold would be so awesome.

Also, I won’t be here until Tuesday, so there won’t be any posting for the next 3 days, except maybe Sunday for the usual Script of the Week announcement.

Don’t get too cold while I’m gone.

And it begins

Enigmatic post title, eh?
Well not really.

First, the casting for ABC’s Flash Forward has finally begun with Courtney Vance cast as Stan Wedeck and Jack Davenport as Lloyd Simcoe.

Look to your right to catch the pilot script.

I thought it was a good pilot. I completely see why people would want to match it with Lost. The way it is told is certainly reminiscent of a mythological show like Lost. I’ve already got a couple theories going on in my head!

For those who read the book, the show seems to be completely different so don’t worry.
And if you’re thinking of getting spoiled off the book, don’t get your hopes up. The book’s explanation for the FF is some pseudo-science stuff that is way too complicated for national TV.

Also, Caprica (BSG’s prequel show) is finally set to begin.
I’ll let that post-title double pun sink in now for a while.

Okay?
All Good?

Let me repeat: Caprica has finally had a series order.

Happy?

I posted several months back about the pilot so if you want to glean a tinsy bit of info on that script check the small post. Although you’ll probably be better off finding your own copy of the pilot script by now.

Also, beginning (or rather continuing) is Showtime’s momentum, growing at an impressive rate. 2008 is Sho’s fifth consecutive year of growth, with a 7% increase of subscribers in the last 12 months.
The L.A. Times has just published a pretty interesting piece around the reasons behind Sho’s success.
As usual, a business eye in the TV world nowadays is not a must but a given. So get involved in SRS BSNS if you know what I mean.
I sense a shift of cable-power coming up.
